My exam is on thursday and from practice exams and problem I know that realistically I'm going to do good. Would be better to no show lose my application money but not waste one of my 3 attempts or just take the exam and get a bad score using up one of my three attempts? Does anyone have a reliable source that states there are no penalties and dental schools are not notified of no shows? thanks

Old threads show that nothing happens. It doesn't count as an attempt, you don't have to wait 90 days, and dental schools don't know about it. You do have to re-register and pay the fee again though. Is it too late to reschedule?

yeah I've read that I just thought maybe they changed it. I'm at the end of my 6 month period so rescheduling would be little to no use right now.

Does anyone know why someone would pay 100$ to cancel their appointment when they could just not show up?

You only pay the cancellation fee if you want to reschedule later. If you cancel the test, you're still valid to schedule another date until your 6th months are up. If your six months are about up I would just not show up to the test. I heard some schools will even average your scores but I don't know if that's 100 percent true or not

You are right about the 6 months rule. I am not sure about cancelling it and then reschedule. Because you can reschedule a test but once you cancel it, it's cancelled. You might have to pay again. I suggest calling ADA and find out. I had a similar situation. I asked them what the purpose of paying a $100 cancellation fee is if I can just not show up and save $100. ADA told me to save my $100 and not show up. However, since my 6 months was up. I had to pay for the test again. And how would schools know you were a no show. They are probably expecting the score if you put in your AADSAS that you were going to take it in October though. But again, they only care about the score that gets printed.

Don't take the test if you are not fully ready. You'll have to wait 3 months if you take it and dont do as well. But then again, the test may not be that bad. I retook it last week and improved from a 13 QR to 18 and 14 PAT to 21, 19 RC to 25 as well. Just move on when you dont know the answer and practice timing timing and timing.

I like to know which schools average DAT scores too. It's like Big Foot, I heard there are some but no one ever names them!

I was so worried and wasnt confident enough so i paid $100 and rescheduled it.

I did it because registering again is more expensive and i know i can will be ready within few month.
