No word from the residency program

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
N0. Be calm. You'll hear from them in the next week. We don't send out e-mails to our people until Monday, our PD just calls to say congrats and welcome to the program, but most places don't do that. Especially if they have a large program.

Are programs supposed to contact you by a certain time? I haven't heard from mine yet (I've heard from my prelim, not my advanced). Are they not in any hurry because i'm not there for like 15 months? I'm bummed I want my welcome email!

When I matched, I didn't hear from my program until May. The PD at that time wasn't exactly the warm fuzzy type and didn't see the point. When I finally heard from them, it was a generic email from the GME followed by a package with a bunch of paperwork. I felt a little left out at the time, as everyone was hearing from their programs after match.

But now 7 years later I barely remember that fact. It's just a bit of apocrypha.

Your advanced program is working on the incoming advanced residents -- they all need credentialing, licensing, etc. Still, I agree it would have been nice, and almost no work, for them to send you an email after the match.

Make sure you guys check your spam email. My first contact from my program's residency coordinator was hiding in there for four days.

All of this makes me feel better, I actually forgot about the advanced class above me. Thanks everyone!
