If I've been nominated for honors like the Dean's List but failed to turn in the application for publication, is it still ok to mention the nomination on my resume? I think there have been one or two times when the letter was sent to my home address instead of school and I missed the deadline. Would grad schools/employers see it negatively that I only have nomination status and did not receive the full award? And without a publication, would they question that I was even nominated?

My take is, if you didn't submit the paperwork, you might as well leave them off.

Honestly, I doubt it is going to make any difference for your application either way. Grad schools are more interested in your GPA, which reflects essentially the same information as the dean's list stuff.
