Hey Guys,

I'll be getting my undergrad B.Sc. degree this school year and haven't done the MCAT test. Which schools can I apply to? I have a 3.89 GPA.

I already applied to Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM). I noticed Saba in the Caribbean also doesn't require MCAT.

Where else can I apply (that the deadline hasn't passed yet???).

Is there a reason you're not going to take the MCAT? You have a very low chance of getting in somewhere without it - even the (tiny amount) of schools that don't require still have a very large percentage of applicants with it.

Don't know about Canada, but pretty sure ALL US schools require it. With your GPA I wouldn't be jumping into the Caribbean. Take the year to get some work experience, take the MCAT and apply next year. Dude, you're JUST graduating college, there's plenty of time.

I'm going to take it next summer. But of course I want to try my best without it to avoid the massive amounts of mcat stress.

the MCAT absolutely does not have to involve "massive amounts" of stress. seriously.

I'm just going to be blunt - if you are this nervous for the "stress" of MCATs (I agree, they're really not that stressful) what do you anticipate doing for the USMLE?!? How are you going to be a doctor?? The MCATs are just the first of many tests on the road to become a doctor. And it just gets harder from there...

I don't see your rush. Just start prepping for the MCATs now and plan on applying as early as possible next application cycle. Personally, I would not apply to a school that didn't require an MCAT score (I also know nothing about Canadian schools). Just suck it up and make the most of your "gap year". Just my two cents...

Not a good plan. Take the MCAT and apply next year early.
Start studying now, take it in March. You probably have a good foundation with that GPA. Suck it up, take the test, go to a good school - there's no reason to avoid that test.

Your first med school test stress = MCAT stress. Get used to it.

Take the MCAT way before the summer so that you can apply as soon as possible after June 1st. but do not look for a school on the basis of lack of MCAT requirement.

Guys, Dartmouth doesn't *require* the MCAT. They suggest it, but it isn't required and I doubt any residency PDs look down on Dartmouth.

That said, I highly doubt anyone actually gets in without some sort of MCAT score unless they won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry or something.

if he can apply earlier, get into a good school w/o mcat, why not?

and nobody cares about ur mcat score in 4 years...

Prepping for the MCAT isn't that bad... it's just like studying for a big test... on the other hand, reading some of these threads will probably make you freak out.

Brown Med School does not require the MCAT if you do their 8 year program (PLME).
Whether or not you want to repeat undergrad is another story.
