I am a research assistant (soon to be lab manager) of a psychology research lab at my university. I will be taking a psych class from my supervisor (psych associate professor) and would like to know if her letter will count for a non science faculty letter if she addresses me as a research assistant/manager AND student?

I was involved in research before taking her class, but want to know if I can do this to fulfill that non science faculty letter that many schools require.

From my understanding, yes, that should suffice.

I'm not sure why you think being a research assistant under a professor versus being a student under a professor changes that professor's qualifications as science or non-science faculty.

A better question would be whether or not psychology faculty are considered science or non-science.

The answer is non-science: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=303440

I'd say that would for sure count and be a great letter. And in my experience applying to a lot of schools only a few explicitly asked for a nonscience professor who taught you. That would count in those cases.

On a similar yet different note - is math non-science?
