So my GPA just got verified.

My Sci GPA is significantly higher than I had expected.

But my non-science GPA is much lower than I had expect...

Just out of curiosity, how important is non-science GPA is the grand scheme of things?

Inc +/-
BCP 3.74
Sci 3.73
Non-sci 3.25
Total 3.66

W/o +/-
BCP 3.79
Sci 3.76
Non-sci 3.25

This is just my opinion. With 0.5 that big of margin it shows that either in your school the science classes are relatively easy with grading or non-sci classes are relatively harsh

Or you excel at science courses. I have a lower non science because it took me a while to figure out I wanted to be a dentist. So I wasn't fully invested as I should have been. I have a really high science GPA because I figured out what I wanted to do and motivated myself to put forth an effort. Nothing to do with how my school grades.

To answer OPs question... Not sure how schools rate the two. Maybe call them and ask? I would assume a higher science GPA is favored due to your first two years of dental school being science core work but who knows. That's just an assumption. Lol

It's definitely NOT my school's science classes. About 10 of my courses have a 90% mark cap to keep the class avg in the mid 60s.

Don't say that during the interviews lol.

......i am not comparing + with -; it is sci vs. non sci......i am pretty sure i can add and subtract lol

Good luck backing that attitude up in an interview.

get lost. a tip for you- when you take the DAT read the question before you answer it.

My point proven. No need in being so rude when someone has a question. Lol! You might wanna look into some stress relievers. You're wound a little tight...

I just gave my opinion and not being rude. 0.5 is a big margin isnt it? i am not here to comfort anyone and neither would the admission office.

I was referring to the "good luck backing that on the DAT." Came across as a little unnecessary. But hey if it wasn't meant as condescending then ill be the first to apologize.

Hey my bad. I see a lot of negative comments on this board and I made a bad assumption. 🙂 best of luck to you. Back to studying for me as well!

The ranking of GPA importance tends to be Sci or BCP>Overall>NonSci

All GPAs hold some weight, but out of all the categories, NS is the least important.

You're fine. I would presume that dental schools catering to a science-based dental profession would not prioritize non-sci GPA over the others. They probably couldn't care less about what you thought of Shakespeare.
