How important is the non science GPA to adcoms? The reason I ask is because I will be doing an informal post-bacc starting in the fall and only one class will be non science. After one year of post-bacc work my overall should be right at 3.0, science and BCP should be a 3.2, and my non science is worthless. I took the DAT on 6/1/2012 and scored 21AA, 20TS, 19PAT. With my projected GPA's are those scores high enough to land an interview invite? I would greatly appreciate any advice on what steps I should take in the future!

Why are you taking a non-science class as part of your informal post-bacc?

The only courses I can think of are english, intro to sociology (for mich), or intro psych (for... I can't remember which school).

OP: your GPAs are low, and while they might warrant an interview, they just as easily may not. I would suggest you apply for masters programs when that option becomes available (I know for my state school they only have fall admittance). look into it now so you don't miss any deadlines.

Taking ASL for fun and to total out to 17 credits for the semester. I'm taking immunology, medical microbiology, gen chem (retake), and comparative physiology so I figured ASL would be a welcome break

For what it's worth, I've had friends who've told me that ASL was pretty challenging... they spent a lot of time practicing the gestures and getting them perfect. I haven't taken any classes in ASL, but I've learned a bit to communicate with some of the nonverbal folks I work with in a group home. Who knows, could be a valuable skill in the future depending on the populations you work with and who you treat!

ASL = fun, potentially helpful, boost non-sci GPA, dexterity

It's a total win all around! It should be a pre-req!
