Instructor has MA and teaches a 3 credit course in the college of general studies but doesn't have a PhD. Can I still ask this prof for a LOR to fulfill the non-science letter requirement?

@gonnif @Moko If I did research for credit (on my transcript and received grade for course) for 3 semesters but I had the graduate student I worked with write the LOR and the PI co-signed it, could this count as one of the science faculty LORs accepted by most MD schools? I did not take any other courses with this prof outside of the research for credit.
