Here is my story. I am a History Major and a Chemistry Minor. I love history...i love chemistry less, thus the major/minor bit. I really want to be a dentist. I have done a ridiculous amount of shadowing. However while I have a 4.0 in my major my sciences are not very good. I have a D+ in chem one which I retook to get a B. I have a C in Bio I and and C in Bio II which I retook to make an A in. Sooo....If I make straight A's in Ochem I & II Physics I &II, biochem, and histology..do I have a shot without the post-bacc? What else can I do to strengthen my application? Also does Dental School average the retakes or replace them like DO school? 😕 Thank you

that's a lot of IFs in that paragraph of yours. Easier said than done. IF you get A's in all those courses, it will definitely show an upward trend on your transcript and i'm sure schools will take it into consideration. Also, don't forget about your DATs. Also a big factor in your application. At this point, you're not in the hole yet; getting there but not in it yet. Take it one step at a time and show them that upward trend.

As it stands right now, retaking those basic classes will not help you when you apply but there's still a lot you can do to change it. Best of luck! =)
