Hey I was reading howard's admission requirement and it said:
You do not have to be a science major to apply to HUCD. However, you must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year college or university in US or Canada and meet the admissions requirements to apply to HUCD.
I am confused, does that mean that a non-science major is not allowed to apply in their third year in college as it is usually done and only have the eligibility to apply after they have obtained their bachelor's or did Howard just poorly state the requirement, did they mean that a non-science major must have a bachelor prior to the beginng of the first year in dental school? please help any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Call the admissions office and ask this question. There won't be any better answers from folks around here than adcom themselves.

it just means that you need to have a bachelors degree to matriculate, duh. doesn't matter if it's science or non-science..

jb!🙂

but it say you must have the bachelors in order to apply !!

For the one confused🙂....what it means is...in order to apply to dental school you must have a 4yr degree. You don't have to be a science major....you could be a music major as long as you took the required science courses, say as part of your gen ed requirements in college up to the point of you applying. The course requirements are on every schools website...they tell you how many semester hours of chem, bio, organic chem, biochem....etc you need to have done B4 applying... hope that helped😀.

I understand what the message says buddy but you have missed my point. The issue is that the website states that if you are a non-science major YOU CAN'T APPLY DURING THE SUMMER OF YOUR JUNIOR YEAR AS IT IS USUALLY DONE you have to GRADUATE first before applying. which means that when I apply to all the dental schools next year as a senior, I will not be able to apply to Howard until I have graduated and receive my bachelors, which goes for all other non-science majors.

Send me the link on their page because I'm confused.

What's your RC score dude? haha.

It says as clear as day:

You don't have to be a science major to apply (just like every other dental school out there). However, regardless of your major (even science majors), you still need to graduate and obtain your degree before matriculation.

So yes, it seems that you should finish all 4 years to MATRICULATE, but as long as you will be receiving your degree you can APPLY before your senior year.

BTW this goes for science majors too. Did I mention that?

That's what it says.

correction buddy howard uiniversity's website says a BACHELORS BEFORE APPLYING AND NOT BEFORE MATRICULATING so you can't apply until you have graduated

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do you have to complete all required coursework or have taken the DAT before applying to HUCD?

No, you do not have to complete all required coursework or take the DAT before applying to HUCD. However, if you receive an offer of acceptance, you must complete all requirements as specified in your acceptance letter. Otherwise, your offer will be rescinded.

Check and mate.

Ok I'm a science major and I just graduated in May. I applied last year and was accepted before i graduated as I had fulfilled the requirements for dental school. Hopefully now there is clarification.... Wheeew! And if you're still confused just call Admissions at whichever school....i'm sure they'll gladly explain what you're being told.

...buddy...lol sorry, I found that amusing. I'm pretty sure you misunderstood, just call and avoid all this back and forth confusion.
