Non Trad LOR Submission?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I would continue trying to reach out to them every week or two. But having letters complete by August is on time. Just be careful it doesn't go too much longer.

Have it all complete by august, and you'll be good.. my friend submitted a LOR in mid september and she was still good at most of the schools.

I just submitted my primary yesterday and I am having issues with my LORs. My one orgo teacher has gone MIA since I asked her in April and I followed up many times after and she has not replied. My other science teacher wrote the letter, but forgot to sign it at the bottom and she is not replying to her emails as well. I do have one non science letter, thankfully. So my plan is to essentially go see them once school starts again (late aug) and have them complete the letters. Is it possible to submit my secondary without the LORs in and then have them submitted later in August?
This may seem irrelevant to your immediate circumstances, but I would suggest obtaining phone numbers in the future. Phones are far more ubiquitous and harder to discard from current thought than an email. If they discard your text message and calls, then you know they no longer want to continue acting as a letter writer on your behalf. An email address in and of itself is convenient for them because it allows them to discard or ignore it without giving you any feedback. Excuses such as it getting put into the spam box also take personal guilt away from their consciousness as they presume you have no way of verifying that they are blatantly lying.

In addition, I've had issues with "veteran" LOR writers who presume they are one of twenty or so letter writers and the applicant would be otherwise fine without them. On the other hand, "new" LOR writers are too anxious to write a letter and have come up with excuses as to being unable to furnish a letter no more than a couple days before deadline. I've found greater reliability from my professional contacts than my academic contacts even with the faculty members I did research with over the course of a year and a half period for my undergraduate research thesis.
