To any other non-trads out there,
I plan to apply for a specialty (ortho) this year. I've been out for 2 years and I just decided to pursue ortho. I realize that a lot of programs want to see a letter from academic orthodontist. I don't have any real connection to getting a good strong letter from one. I do work with multiple specialists who will write me good PPIs (but not one for 2 PEF worthy), but I'd rather get PEFs from others (general dentist / research faculties) who know me better.
For applicants like me, does it matter? It sounds ridiculous to go back to school and ask a faculty member who barely knows me for a PEF.
thx
