I'm entering into Columbia's post-bacc in the Fall and I've heard how difficult the classes are there, and especially since I'm a career changer Liberal Arts major I'm trying to prepare myself ahead of time by prepping in math and science before I get there. Does anyone have any resources they can recommend to prepare for Chem, Physics, and/or Calculus? An adviser recommended I purchase an AP Chemistry Exam book to review basic Chemistry concepts which I've gone ahead and done, and I'm planning on using Khan Academy and a Calculus for Dummies book I found at a used bookstore to study for Math. If anyone has anything to add or a better resource to recommend I'm all ears!

I recommend doing lots of practice problems for chem and physics. Being able to *apply* the concepts is key.

Tutorial for calculus : Calculus I

(Best math resource I ever used. It explains everything simply and clearly. Follow up with practice problems to solidify your knowledge.)

Fellow arts major who had never set foot in a college science classroom when he took the mcat.

I used Khan Academy religiously. Also ExamKrackers and Princeton Review Hyperlearning. I also supplemented with free relevant lectures from iTunes.

For calculus I used the Complete Idiots Guide to Calculus because it was written much better than the dummies one.

There may be better resources now - this was about 10 years ago. And holy crap I guess I’ve been at this a good while now!

Use the textbook the course will use for the semester. It's how I prepared for all my pre-req coursework. It helped a ton to pre-read and do questions.

You can search Columbia's BNCollege for the textbooks if you know the Dept and Course.
If you're lucky, you can also find a student solution's manual that has in-depth explanations similar to uWorld and EK.

Good luck!
