Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could help me with my school list. Just got my MCAT back and got a 510 which im happy with! Looking to apply both MD and DO with no major location preferences! I have a prelim list right now but any advice on schools to add or take away would be greatly appreciated!! trying to apply broad to maximize chances so lmk if more info is needed!!

State: NY (currently live in PA)

School: Undergrad at B10 in midwest (social science and langauge major), post-bacc at one of CUNYs, Masters at large R1 state school

ORM? Yes, white dude

Major: Social Science and Language, Masters in Biomedical Sciences

GPA: cGPA- 3.77 sGPA - 3.81 (post bacc was 3.91, all science pre reqs completed during this time)

gradGPA (hard science MS) - 3.97

MCAT: 497 (124/125/124/124) in 2021 --> 510 (128/127/127/128) in May 2024

About me: Mid/late 20s non-trad, career changer from tech. i think i have a pretty strong service narrative in my app with a lot of my activities relating to each other in various ways. I emphasize a lot of social aspects of medicine and wanting to work with underserved/refugee populations. many of my activities integrate my second language, which is a more uncommon one.

ECs:

Non-Clinical Paid =

10,400 hours full-time work in Tech as a Data Analyst, left this role before master's program to fully commit to pursuing medical school.

1300 hours from undergrad to support myself during senior year as a lead student manager, so basiically managed the student union on nights and weekends.

Clinical Paid =

300 hours as an biomed engineer in a major hospital - don't want to go into too much detail to avoid doxing myself since this role is rather uncommon but i work in the ICUs with doctors to help manage patients. 1440 hours projected (gap year)

Clinical Volunteering =

220 hours ER volunteering, just basic volunteering but i liked it and found it impactful! think i wrote about it well.

Research =

150 hours from undergrad as a research research assistant that integrated my majors (no pubs, but did help create a novel dataset that can be used by other historians and researchers)

450 hours in public health intervention research (1st author publication, poster presentation at major conference)

60 hours in pathology research (2nd author publication, I helped with data analysis and writing)

Oral presentation on my EU policy research during undergrad at conference

Non-clinical =

~750 hours across 7 years of working with refugees as a translator, one of my most meaningful activities and was the drive to pursue medicine.

Leadership =

~600 hours as Chair of Community Service/Philanthropy for social fraternity -- established philanthropy events, and community service events that they still do today.

Shadowing =

30 hours across IM, FM, CCM, OMM, Radiology

Other =

Internship abroad in translation/intepretation
