Normal to not have interview now?

You were complete a bit late in the game yeah...so just wait it out and see what happens! Your GPA is a bit on the low side....but I hope things will workout for you. I know waiting sucks!!
 
Not sure, but I was complete at three schools around the same time you were and I have gotten an interview (Erie) at one and the other two have informed me they put me on pre-interview holds (Bradenton & VCOM). Could it be that you have an MD letter and not a DO letter? I am not sure what schools you applied to, but all the ones that I remember seeing stated they required a DO letter. If thats not it, you might want to contact a couple of schools to see what your status is.
 
It could just be the schools your applying to are a little slower or maybe have more applicants than the three that I have gotten responses from so far. Heck, theres still one school (Pikeville), which has yet to send me a secondary, even though they received my primary in July or August.
 
I don't think you should be too worried, your stats and ecs seem ok (similar to mine in fact). The last secondary I completed was 9/24 and got an interview invite 5 days later with no physician letter. Schools interview all the way through next semester so just hang in there!
 
I don't think that being complete in September is late. My verification didn't come through until the second week into Sept. My best guess is that it could be your lower GPA. It sounds like you have a fairly competitive application, so just keep waiting.

To keep busy in the meantime, participate in some activities that will help you strengthen any weak points in your app, like additional clinical or volunteer experiences. That way you can send a letter updating your application if you still aren't hearing from any schools.

Its a tough call, your gpa and mcat are on the border, just wait it out, best of luck to ya!
 
Have you seen your science professor letters of recommendation? If not, perhaps they were weak?

Schools look at the total application. Your stats look fine. Could also be a less than stellar personal statement or secondary essays.

It is a little early to start worrying. If you haven't heard anything by mid November, consider a phone call followed by sending a letter of interest.
 
OP: My GPA is lower than yours, but my MCAT is higher. If I were you, I'd find a DO to shadow ASAP. It might seem trivial, but it could make a world of difference in the admissions. True, schools say that it's recommended. But that really means "required". So go out there and get one!
 
I'm going to see if I can meet up with the DO I shadowed awhile ago and go from there. Maybe do some other stuff too. My clinical volunteer is pretty good imo, I've done 300-400+ hrs through internships/volunteer, obviously quantity =/= quality but it doesn't hurt 🙂 (not saying they were bad experiences)

I'm pretty sure that certain specific letters (MD, Outreach, Research) letters are good, but since I can't read them and they have been submitted, that is out of my hands.

Don't be discouraged. It looks like you have great EC's. Your GPA is slightly low, but your MCAT score is good. I got in with a 3.4 and a 23, so dont give up. Good Luck!
 
I don't know if it's your stats..it might just be where you've applied. I have not recd any interviews either. I've been complete since august. 30mcat 3.5gpa
 
I'd send the DO letter, more LOIs and maybe even add more schools to AACOMAS.
 
I didn't really want to make a new thread for this, but I'm looking at the Osteopathic Mentor program and should I consider the communication methods when I apply for mentors? Should I mention I need a LOR (or assume one is needed, I normally wouldn't ask, but I don't have the luxury of shadowing for a long long time and requesting a LOR due to the current application cycle).

Most have email only and some put email, face to face, day shadowing, etc. Should I ignore people who only have email listed? (I hope to receive a LOR).

Also, kinda random question, but does any DO school put extra emphasis on a LOR from an alumni? I know, it's not that big of a deal, but I don't think it would hurt to get a LOR from an alumni.

Some people have tried that with great success. I filled out the form at the beginning of this year and over the summer--nada, nothing. I actually Google Mapped the DO I shadowed and got a letter from. Try it and see what happens. My DO was pretty understanding about writing a letter. I think I shadowed her for about 3 days and then I asked her. Getting a letter from an alumni couldn't hurt you, so what the heck. Good luck!
