I was just wondering does anyone have any information or personal experience with Northeastern? I never see any threads about it, and there are no interview feedbacks on it.

Do you mean NOVA?... That's NOVA Southeastern University. If so, just look up all the threads for NOVA; there's a lot.

I think he means the Oklahoma school...I don't know much about it...except that they only accept students from particular states and is very small.

odforme is right, I was referring to the optometry school in Oklahoma. Odforme, how do you know that they only accept students from certain states?

it's call the school's website. Go find it.

Thank you RSlilly for the link. CAOD_05, you meant to say "it's called the school's website," and you could have left that comment to yourself. I didn't ask for any negativity, I asked for help.

Hi! What did you want to know about it? I interviewed there in Feb, but didn't get in for Fall 2007. Will reapply for 2008. I was very impressed with facilities and interview. Older building, but seems to be pretty up-to-date in technology. Like the small class size too. Students get to do a ton of clinic work, so it sounds like they are pretty experienced when they graduate.

What I would like to know is the details of their admissions regarding applicants from different states. Do you have to currently be living in the nine states specified, or have to had residence at one point in time? You also answered my other question about your experience visiting their school. Sorry you didn't get accepted for the fall🙁 .

you have to be living in those states... for at least 1 year before applying. im not sure what is drawing you to that particular school? is it just the small class size? basically you could name at least a half dozen other schools that give you just as good if not better clinical experience... and the town is a ****hole in the middle of nowhere. i have a friend in the second year class who wishes he had gone somewhere else just so he wouldnt be stuck in talequah for 4 years. their externship program is extremely limited as well, especially compared to some other schools that have priority. if you were going for the ability to do surgeries, you can easily go to other schools that have va externships and you will be able to do those there since they passed a new law allowing od's to have such privileges within the va system. really the only reason i could see to go there is if you are an oklahoma resident and you care about saving 20k over the course of 4 years. other than that its not really worth it.. you still have to have a life and enjoy your time in wherever you are going to be. opt school is hard... it would be really depressing if you couldnt have a little bit of fun 🙂

sounds like cunikki pretty much answered your questions. I happen to have grown up in hole-in-the-road towns in the middle of nowhere, so i don't have a problem with that, but that is right - there's really not a lot to do there. and i haven't looked into other schools, so i don't know how they compare. I can just tell you my impressions of that facility and interview process.
