Does anyone know why they closed their dental school? I wonder if it was a good school?

great school. my old man went there. I think it was a matter of financial reasons.

I have heard many reasons for this but the main reason was money. NU wasnt satisfied with the money it was making off the dental school and decided (like Loyola Dental) to close it down and turn it in to a research facility associated with the med school (I believe). I have heard nothing but good things about both Loyola and Northwestern and wish that they were still around. Also, the AIDS scare and the surplus of dentists in the 1980s helped to not only decrease class sizes (UIC was at 100+ and is now 69) but also close schools. Dentist average salaries in the 80s were pretty low...but now look at whats happening...more retirees than graduates.
