Northwestern, Emory, or case UH. I don't have any geographical preference. I have friends in each of these programs who are happy. I didn't like Cleveland that much though.
Research opportunities is the most important factor for me. Which one would you choose?

I'd probably choose NW if it was me since it's both the best program of those three and also in the best city. 🙂

You preferred to Case-UH to CCF? Cleveland also isn't at bad as people say and is "revitalizing." I'm not a fan of Atlanta or hot weather, especially when having to drive around to multiple hospitals.

NW=Emory > CW.

You may not have geographical preferences now, but pick based on where you'd rather settle long term.

I am not in the match yet. Hoping for the next year. I am an IMG.
I have been shadowing at UH for 2 months now. Liked the autonomy of their residents. I know it is not a top program, but I have very good friends in Cleveland. I will definitely apply to CCF. However, my friends at CCF are not that happy with their PD.
I rotated for a month at NW, the atmosphere was not that social/friendly. PD was great, but other faculty were not that friendly. Everything seemed serous and formal. I have not been in Atlanta, but have so many friends who are in love with their residency and the relationship with the faculty.
Chicago is a wonderful city. I understand why you are Cubsfan 😉

Biased towards the south. Emory is an awesome program. Neuro is very strong if thats the specialty you want FYI

strongly advise against going to nw. overall clinical environment is malignant, toxic and stifling.

Heard this on interview trail, but wasn't invited for an interview so don't know for sure.

What's with this PD? I keep hearing that the program could be amazing with all the resources they have but there's mixed reviews on this guy.

I have not met him, but my friends told me that he is arrogant, unpredictable, and illogical. He also micromanages every details.

I only interviewed at Emory. I thought Northwestern was better known. I turned down Case because of Cleveland. I saw Cleveland for a CCF interview and decided not to return. It probably did not help that I took the airport train and walked. Emory seemed like a well-rounded program and I liked the new PD. My reservations were Atlanta traffic and its size. I worried about getting lost in the shuffle of multiple sites with so many residents. The research and reputation are strong from what I have heard and Atlanta has things to do. Emory will be in my top 10. I have heard Case is great for molecular imaging.

If I were in your shoes, strictly based on my preference for cities and size of program, I would do NW > Emory > Case. You cannot go wrong with whatever you choose.

Weird. Good thing PDs change out every so often I guess. Shame for such a great institution though.

Thinking that Emory > NW > Case. Emory has a great program.
