During interviews Dean Brown said that last year they took like 3 people off the waitlist. She said some years they have taken 30 off the waitlist. So NU's waitlist movement can vary greatly depending on the year.
I think they do keep track of how many times you get in contact with the school so it would be in your best interest to keep updating them.

If you do a search from last year, I think one person got in from SDN off the waitlist, and I too heard the total of 3 people. I'm sure it must vary though. Worth sending lots of love, I think.
The MD/PhD program has too many accepted people right now. When I went to the second look, a high number of them were committed there. Just in case someone is curious, I don't think that the MD/PhD waitlist is going to move much, if it at all.
