Does anyone know if this dental app cycle was especially competitive with more applicants than past years? I've seen mostly acceptances posted on SDN. Are schools actually notifying people of rejections for people who have interviewed? Or are most people who have interviewed but not accepted on Dec 3 being put under the "decision not reached "category?

I interviewed at a couple places but I got put on either a school's waitlist or the school has not reached a final decision on my application. Does anyone know how good of a chance someone has of getting in somewhere if they were not accepted right away on Dec 3 but was put on the "decision not reached" category?

I have the same question. 2 schools that I've interviewed at haven't got back to me yet. I'd love to know the answer to this or what I should do.

Nobody can tell you your "chances" but there will be lots of students accepted in the coming months. I interviewed at a school on Monday and they said they only sent out enough acceptances for half of their class on the 3rd. The rest will trickle through into March. Remember that these admissions committee members are most likely faculty as well so they're busy with other things, they don't just debate admissions issues all day. Sadly they are not as anxious as we all are about the whole thing!

Considering the statistics of the past ten years, you could safely extrapolate that the average GPA and DAT of future matriculates will increase slightly.
