I know, I know. Because the application cycle is about to open in a few months, all of us crazies are asking questions about applications.
Mine is specifically about LOR. I read that the standard is:
2 Science LOR
1 Non-Science Prof LOR
1 Dentist LOR
I go to a small private college and I've only had classes with 2 bio professors and 1 chem professor. One of the bio professors does all the upper levels and the other does the level 100's and some 200's - so I haven't had them since I was a freshman.
I am pretty sure I could get a good LOR from the other Bio professor. The chem professor likes me, but I'm not sure if they feel they know me well enough to write me a good LOR.
I also have a Psych professor who've I've done research with every year since I was a freshman (we're actually presenting at a national conference this year
). I'm assuming that psychology doesn't count as science though - so he'd likely be my non science LOR.
As far as filling my other science LOR - I feel I have 3 options:
a) ask my current chemistry professor, who I'm actually in his class/lab right now
b) ask the professor who I haven't had for 3 years (I got 103% in the class, but there were about 90 of us, so I'm not sure I'm memorable)
c) ask my former anatomy/physiology professor. He resigned last year, but I do have his contact information. I got A's in both anatomy and physiology and I did get to know him well due to the high amount of time spent in the cadaver lab. Is is, however, an MD/PhD so I wasn't sure if it would appear odd to have an MD writing a LOR for a pre-dent.
Which should I pursue for my science LOR? Also, when should I start asking? I want to give them time, but not too much that they end up forgetting.
