I received my test back and unfortunately did not do well..
A professor told me that he may consider dropping this exam from my grade if i can show improvement on the remaining exams.
But the problem is that he can not 100% guarantee that he would do that for me.
If thats the case, even if I get As on the remaing exams i would end up getting C
Im willing to work really hard in this class from now on
but Do you think its too risky to continue on..?
What should i Do..? should i just drop this class? 🙁!

Are you on a quarter system, and is that why you're taking Calc 3? Even on the semester system you only really need a semester of calc, plus possibly stats for dental schools, or is this a graduation requirement?

may be he is trying to get his BS... in any case. if you did good in calc 2 automatically you should excel in calc 3. Its much more fun 3d stuff that is very useful especially in gaming industry...

What does he mean by he cannot guarantee that he'll drop the exam? He's the prof, he runs the course... it's his decision isn't it?

Well, if there's no consequences to dropping I would drop it and try again at a later time, knowing that you would have to put more effort into it. But if there is, like you'd get a W or something, I'd have to do some serious thinking. It depends on how sure you are that you can do exceptionally well on the other exams.

IMO, I found Calc 3 to be much easier than Calc 2 (series... ugghhh). If you did well in Calc 1 with derivations/integrations, you should be good to go with Calc 3.

Its for my major..
Calc1/2 were not too hard for me actually..but cal3..
i have hard time understanding its concepts ( ex.space curve..)
Yes.. I would get a W
It's his decision If he decides to drop this one later on, I'm confident that i can at least get B
if not,C haha 🙁
I dont know what to do..

First of all, I don't think it would be too big of a deal if the only C on your record was in an upper level Calculus class. Basically if the Calc class is critical path for your major like it was for mine (Mechanical Engineering, Cal 1,2,3,Diff Eq), I would say study up and see if you can get a B or get some good scaling at the end if you have a pretty solid GPA and no other C's. I had a C+ going into my Cal 2 final and ended up with an A+ in the class because the prof told us if you did better on the final than your average, that is your grade (I studied my butt off the whole week dead week to pull that off)

Just my $0.02, Good Luck!

BTW, what is your major, just curious?

thank you!
I need more time i guess 🙁
my major is chem haha..
cal3 is a pre-req for p-chem how wonderful🙂a

When the going gets tough, quit. That's my motto.
