Not Even One Pathology Interview!

Hello all,


I am an IMG on H4 visa. I was graduated in 2006 and have passed step1 (240/99), step2 (259/99) and CS on first attempts. I have some internship and research experience in my home country but no US experience or publications. I applied to 30 pathology programs in mid October and have only received 2 rejections. 🙁


Do I have any chance at all?


Should I contact the programs and ask about the results? If yes when?

I don't know a thing about how competitive pathology is for an IMG, but 30 programs sounds like a low number.
Your board scores are certainly high and you'd probably be competitive for other residencies such as IM, fp or peds or psych.

Thank you for your fast reply. My husband is also applying for PhD so I have very few choices and I desperately want pathology.

In general path is not that competitive. If you only have 2 rejections, then you still have 28 active applications.

I might contact a few (3-5) and ask nicely for an update on when interview decisions will be made. If you do so, contact the program administrator
