I have a MCAT of 35 and GPA of 3.6. I started late and have sent 20+ seconadry in the last 3 weeks and have only 1 interview for Jan.

Am I screwed? Should I worry about it.

I have no sense of timming that by this time how many interviews I should have seen.:meanie:😀

Most schools have been backed up with applications since September, so submitting now puts you at somewhat of a disadvantage. I wouldn't start getting too worried until January.

Your mistake was starting late. There's probably nothing wrong with your application; it's just that you're competing for fewer interview spots now, since most medical schools go on a rolling admission.

Just relax. Nothing you can do now except practice and hone your interview skills.

How late I am? Late? very late? No chance?

You'll be fine.

But then again I do know of a 34-37 range MCAT/3.8-3.9 GPA July submission with only two interviews.

This can be an... interesting process.

I don't know about you, but it seems especially.. interesting this year.

That being said, OP - if everything else is in line (ECs, LORs, PS, etc.) then you will get most likely get your interviews. Waiting is the cruelest part of the process.

That is the truth. I was lucky enough to get a spurt of interviews early on from my top choice programs. I've seen some less fortunate people about, even with some impressive numbers and activities. It seems odd, but I have a feeling everything will work out for them and you. You already have two acceptances though, so :zip:

Umm... well, if you just recently submitted your secondaries, your chances aren't 0 but....

Basically, submitting your secondary (and all supporting documentation, LORs, etc.) any time after Aug 31 is going to hurt, after Sept 30 is stupid, and after Oct 31 is basically forfeiting your any legitimate consideration. In the words of one Director of Admissions at a school with very slow rolling admissions, "I don't know why they even keep AMCAS open past September or we accept applications after October 1, because any application marked 'Complete' after October 1 is 'late' in my book. Right now [in mid-June], I already have enough primary applications to easily fill our next class several times over with well-qualified applicants. I could stop taking applications now and everyone would be happy."

Every year the applicants think that it is "an interesting year." Yes, things get somewhat more competitive every yr but the only thing interesting to you now is that it's your year to apply. 😉

Agree with the others; you have a shot...but you shot yourself in the foot applying this late.

If things don't work out well for you this cycle, take solace in the fact that your app stats look solid. The fix will likely be a simple one: Make sure to apply ASAP!

How have you been on SDN since 2004 and STILL applied late? 😕

I know people who applied late and still got in. It's not ideal but you still have a chance. unfortunately at this point you just have to wait and see what happens.

Dang...I was in 4th grade back then LOL.

He probably found made it but never used it until now....still....to remember your PW all these years.

that's crazy, i'd guess there's either a red flag in that app or the person applied too top heavy?

Wow, I feel old.

OP, October is quite late for the application process. Your MCAT is very good and your GPA is average for accepted students, so I would expect you to get a few more invites if the rest of your app is solid and you applied broadly. You'd better do very well on the interviews you get, though.

Your post history makes no sense to me. You were supposed to graduate college in 2005 and you applied to medical school in 2004 but then you applied to college again in 2008 and then medical school now?

is this guy like the oldest troll on SDN or what?

I'm scared cuz I submitted everything in early Sept ... didn't hear back from most schools 🙁

Second degree to improve GPA?

This coming from an SDN user since 2004. As others have mentioned, you're probably the oldest troll I've encountered.

I am in agreement with the rest of the replies.

Nonetheless, it's an honor to meet a troll who has been at it for many years. Good luck with your apps or not.

WOW, I did not notice that...he was planning on applying to my UG too....I wonder if he's still here?!

Viewing some stranger's post history is like viewing their old memories. People do it so shamelessly on SDN I'm a little worried.

Psh, consider it practice for patient histories

Apply to 40+ schools like me! Increases your chances exponentially after the first 20.

In regards to oldest troll on SDN. Some of us run into financial conditions and have to pick back up for the right passion.
