Ok so I took a look at the first parts of my verified primary and I am not marked as first gen. Is there a different meaning that Im missing?

Dad- associates over the course of years, mom- sporadic college classes (hs diploma from home country). I have a 10-yr older sister as well.

Marked as SES EO1 disadvantaged, but I'm the first generation to get my bachelors and attempt to pursue a doctorate. I dont understand why I was marked as not first gen. Was this a box I ticked off? I just looked at the entire AMCAS for like the 50th time

I believe it has something to do w the fact that your parents are from overseas. Same thing happened to me.

Did you rectify the situation? Or did you leave it as is?

Leave as is.
Once the app is transmitted nothing to do further. I am disasvantaged but wasnt marked as such bc my parents were born abroad, which is too bad, bc Im a first gen immigrant as well. If the school wishes, they can see my parents education and occupation listed on my AMCAS which will be self explanatory

So I guess neither parent can have an associates degree to be marked as first gen. Irritating becuase he got it while I was in college lol.

In sum, i dont think the designation itself is what is going to make the difference bw an interview/acceptance and not. Just my two cents. The rest of your app will soeak for itself

Yeah I figured. Just a lot of grey area because they went to college when I was in college and routinely helped my mom with her coursework and even taught her english as a kid lol. I just miss out on filters that I feel I should be qualifying for
