Hi!
So right now I am in my third year at a not very well known state school. Originally I had intended on going into physical therapy but after much exposure and other things, I have decided medicine is for me. I am an exercise science major and psychology minor and I do not have ANY of the required sciences for Medical School nor are pre-med advisors at my school very keen on accepting an exercise science junior into their pre-med program. Because of all of this I was thinking that a formal premed post-bacc program would be the way to go but I don't know how I would stack up. Currently I have a 3.6 GPA and I'm involved in a lot of organizations that give me volunteer experience and I have shadowed many physicians and surgeons. If anyone would give me insight on what my chances are and which post-bacc schools are best I'd appreciate it. Thanks!!!

Congrats on your decision!

Where would you like to be? You have a competitive GPA and background. Make sure you definitely want to follow the formal route (I don't know where you are, would you prefer getting your pre-reqs piecemeal from your state school after you graduate?) and that you are willing to part with the cash.

Formal post-bac programs vary in quality immensely. Some of those generally considered very good: Scripps, Bryn Mawr, Mills, Goucher. I am sure there are loads of others you can find here https://services.aamc.org/postbac/ .

I have experience with Mills, PM me if you'd like to know more.

Thanks...right now I am attending school in PA and would probably like to stay in the New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania area, that being said I would be willing to go a little bit further for a quality program. I am definitely interested in attending a formal program because of the structure and resources designed to help students in the same position as me. I'm trying to get a feel for what my chances would be at very well-known places like Bryn Mawr, Goucher etc. and what other schools in my area are good schools/schools I would have a chance with-any help would be really appreciated!
