Hi everyone.
new to this forum. i have a quick question and wanted to share some upliftin news.
I am an international student(although i have spent past 15years in the states.i m 26 btw) third time applying. and i have just finished my M.S . . my undergrad GPA. is. ha. terrible.

here are my stats.

DAT : AA 22 PAT 20 BIO 18 GC 21 OC 22 RC 18 QR 29 TS 20
Underg GPA: 2.7
post-bac (all science pre reqx since i was prelaw and didn't take ANY required science classes.) 3.27
M.S in applied anatomy - 3.51

This year , i applied to 20 schools and i sent out my apps on 5/16 and so far. no rejections, 3 interview invites from case, indiana, and nova.

so here's my question , since i am an international student, and with my stats, should i even bother going to interview at state schools like indiana?
any input would be great!

and yes. for those of people with not so great GPA or whatever, don't give up so easily, if you want it with all ur heart. it WILL happen sooner or later.

G'luck everyone!
and thank you.

Your QR is ridiculous. Good luck

just to clarify,

the reason why i am asking is that.
i know for each school, there are very limited #of seats for international students.
so i was wondering if i am being considered just as "out-of state" or "international" category for any state schools.

thanx a bunch.

Says who? Private schools (well, at least the ones I've researched) usually don't care about where you are from, and as long as you have competitive stats, you are fine. In fact, I think NYU has a lot of international students. The trick is to apply to the right schools since some don't accept international students, (asdoh, ucla) and make sure you meet their requirements (i.g. most schools REQUIRE transcript from US/Canadian universities, so tough luck if you went to college in Taiwan).

Just my 2 cents.

Are you a permanent resident? If not, you may want to check with the schools to make sure you meet their residency requirements. (Example: I know of one state school that requires US citizenship, permanent residency or Asylee status) If you got 3 interviews, you obviously met their residency requirements. Definitely go to them!

Thanks for your inspirational post! It's great to see somebody with such persistence and drive...very encouraging and admirable!

thanx everyone for your insights!

no, i am not a permanent resident of the U.S but holding a F-1 visa.

i pretty much took out all the schools where they require PR or citizenship
and some state schools where they specifically said "strong preference given to instates"

so we'll see how it goes this year! and i just got a secondary app from loma linda. they require LOts of addtional short essays. hew~...

Good luck y'all!
