if the schools do not notify you about your application status or contact you about getting/not getting an interview

adcoms are really busy, and they cannot constantly update everyone
and besides, if they did update people, we would get a bunch of people asking what these updates mean, and are they a "soft rejection"
there is no such thing as a "soft rejection"

please everyone, I know this is a stressful time, but relax, be yourself at your interviews, and enjoy the process...

Sorry but if we pay a $80-$100 dollar supplemental fees on top of the other application fees I damn sure deserve a response.
There are schools who will not even send a rejection letter. Looking at you BU.

Seeing how I've seen your post a couple dozen times by now, pretty sure you mean "UB"

:zip:

This. This right here. But I’m going to take it a step further and say that if we’re expected to shell out all of this money, the expectation should be that the schools actually take the time to review our applications. I recently got rejected by a school and in two separate emails they made it very clear that they didn’t look at my application by mentioning things that I should do that I have clearly done or am currently doing.

Schools send automated rejection emails. Did you really expect them to customize their emails for every single rejected applicant and specifically mention what he/she should do? Lmao

ACTUALLY these weren't automated emails, pal. I did some research and others that were rejected from the same school had different emails. PLUS the second email that had further proof that my app wasn't really looked at was in response to an email I wrote. I can handle rejection, buddy. I would've rather gotten a flat rejection without any reason than get a rejection with a garbage reason that shows my application was never actually looked at.

This happened to me and it was a phone call (I spoke to the head of admissions). It became very obvious right away that my application was never read. The more she talked, the more obvious it became.

So, I very much believe that some schools do not even take the time to read each application (although I know many do). My stats are not super high, but they are good enough that I've gotten interviews and my application should have been reviewed by each school I applied to, IMO.

I call BS whenever a school says that they give every application a comprehensive review. They never admit this, but there are stats that lead to rejections without further review. With everything being electronic these days, it is very easy to filter applicants out this way. Schools can also deliberately wait a few months after making that decision to inform you, as to give you the illusion that they had been reviewing your application all that time.

If students push for schools to universally update I strongly speculate they would use that as a reason to increase staff and add another level of administration..watch out for that 8% tuition increase lol

I only spent maybe $1.3k, and that includes everything. However, for my only two interviews, I was within same day driving distance, so all I had to pay for was gas and parking, no flights or hotels.

Well, maybe add on an extra $1.3k if I were to include the tuition to enroll somewhere as a non degree student to finish the last of my prereqs because I got told a course which I initially thought would count wouldn't .

By any chance was it UNLV lol
My sister applied there and after 2 days got rejected. I am pretty sure her application wasn't even reviewed.
They rumbled a lot about wanting to see "sculpture course" taken by their dream candidate. :ninja:

Nah, it wasn't UNLV but that sounds bad, too.

That green card process has to suck 🙁 So sorry, but try to stay hopeful. It will be worth it in the end.

As for interviews, I'm sure you'll get more. You exhibit a lot of perseverance and determination in your history, so I don't think you'll have a problem getting additional invites soon. Stay hopeful! I'm rooting for you! 🙂
