Hurricanes? I hate hurricanes. Hurricanes make me crazy. Anyways, I was just wondering if any florida residents or anyone else, that have later NOVA interviews, anytime after Dec. 13th, would want to trade dates with me. You see mine is this Friday Oct 21st and if I fly down I will most likely be stuck in Southern Florida for a few days, due to WILMA! Plus I don't feel like dieing from flying aluminum siding just yet. So If anyone wants to switch their interview date, just let me know. Man I hate hurricanes.

Screw it, i'm going. I got myself an early flight out friday night. Hope that is early enough. Please pray for all traveling! Is dental school really this important? 😕

When’s the hurricane scheduled to make land fall? I am going to be in and out tomorrow. Woohoo for me!

who knows? hopefully it heads straight east. just to be sure if anyone is going to be traveling, american airlines said that if you stay past friday you would not be able to get out till monday. but it could miss florida completely. i would play it safe though. anyone else going to be at NOVA on friday 11:45am?

The National Hurricane Center has confirmed to the Gov. that this IS a 20 yr cycle. No one likes hurricanes at all....and I'm not sure about living here anyomre--and that includes applying to NOVA too.

I have a lot to think about.......for now, I need to finish my undergrad here.

Don't let the hurricane thing stop you from moving here if you get in at NOVA. Just don't buy a property here and if something happens you will finish at some other school.

But get ready for some stressful times. This is more than hrs at the pump, power off for days, and buying food/supplies. It's a real life situation and you have to bite the bullet and go with the flow until you are done with your schooling.

I hope Wilma does not become a tragic hurricane 🙁

Good luck on the interview! :luck:

Its suppose to hit here on Midnight on Saturday/Sunday. You would be okay. Good luck.

Ok cool.

Has Nova ever been hit with a hurricane in Ft.Lauderdale?

No hurricaines had ever hit Fort Lauderdale directly, but with the radius of these monsters, Davie (where the dental school is located), often gets affected (power outtages, heavy rain and wind, etc.). My first two years here, no hurricaines and then my 3rd year, 3 hit state of FL and this year, Katrina!

For those of you that have interviews scheduled for this Friday, I would call NSU CDM Admissions and try to reschedule your interview. In hurricaine preparations down here in FL, they take it pretty seriously. By the looks of the projected path, Davie will be affected by Wilma's ring bands no matter where it makes land fall. The last thing you want to do is to get stuck here. Although Wilma is not forecast to make land fall until Saturday, Davie will probably feel the effects of Wilma's ring bands on Thursday or early Friday.

Shoot, school may even be closed on Friday or a half-a-day! My advice, you want to be safe and enjoy your interview day here at NSU CDM and not worry about the weather. Reschedule is my advice.

So Thursday interviews should be fine?

Yeah, that's a good idea re-scheduelle. I was coming back from Alaska few weeks ago when Rita was passing by Key West....the pilot was not sure if he was going to land in Ft Lauderdale--Orlando, or Tampa...the guy kept everyone up talking about the storm all night long 😡 When leaving LA all Miami flights were cancelled...call the airline and see what they say. I'm sure that by TH they will have a better idea where exactly this thing is going to hit. I'm sure they will close the airports as usual. My in laws are supposed to get here on Sunday--and it looks like they will have to cancel the whole thing 😕

:luck: :luck: :luck: 🙂

Maybe, but are you going to flight out the same day? I hope you don't get stock here! Yikes! 😱
