For those of you who were granted interviews at NSU:

Was your entire application complete when they notified you? I'm asking because I'm still battling with my undergrad school to write and send a pre-med letter so I assumed I would have to wait on interviews from all the schools who send out secondaries and not just interviews. I wasn't in a huff about the letters since I know it will get done way before the deadlines in February and MArch for most school. But today I get a phone call from Nova asking me to make an appointment for an interview and I realized my entire application isn't complete, but they didn't mention that. Have they forgotten I didn't send them a pre-med letter? Did they think they lost it in the hurricane?

I was complete, but a few of my fellow interviewees were not complete yet (mostly missing LORs). They are interviewing people this year that they are interested in before they receive all LORs however they will not make a decision until the file is complete. Congrats on your interview, NSU is a nice school.

Gotcha. Thanks 😀

Now I need to figure out how to get myself from Jersey to Florida. I know the obvious answer is to fly, but I have a paralyzing fear of flying. There's a team of shrinks working on it. They're all MD's, though, so it might hurt my chances.

Fly from Philly to Ft Lauderdale and save yourself major cash, rather then fly out of Newark; or if you are north Jersey fly out of LaGuardia. Do not fly to Miami unless you want the traffic to turn you off to south Florida from the get-go not that Ft Lauderdale is any better, just closer so less pain. Think of Manhattan traffic on a flat, tropical, strip of pavement.

Car rentals in Florida is major cheap too, 100 bucks plus fees = like 140$ for a whole week unlimited miles if you are going to make a vacation out of it. Don't forget your proof of insurance for that deal and you should be older then 25 =)

The Best Western is a good deal since it is literally across the street from the school and they will shuttle you to the school and back and to the airport.

The interview itself is stress-free and the school is really beautiful, just a bit crowded for my taste. Tell the student tour guides you want a good tour and to slow down, I wish I wasn't so nervous when I went since it was my first interview and had asked for a real tour instead of being pulled at 20 miles per hour through the school.

Good luck!

My LORs were not complete when I got the invite call. Everything else was done for a couple of weeks I think.

I just interviewed there and they said that after the interview they will look over the packet and at that point in time if it is complete it will go to the next adcom meeting for decision (they meet every other monday). With any luck, my application was reviewed yesterday.

Good luck with your interview. 🙂
