I was just wondering if any people have interviewed for NOVA in the past 2 weeks and if so if anyone has gotten in. Someone told me that there are no spots and no one else is getting accepted. Can anyone help clarify this for me?
Also if there are any M1 or M2 students, I think your school sounds wonderful but what do you guys think? The interview feedback has one person saying that all the students hate it there and wish they never went and another says that all of the students were so happy and loved the choice they made. What is the real story??
Congratulations to all that have been accepted to med school and good luck to those still waiting!:hardy:

I interviewed on 1/23; acceptance packet came on 2/2! I'm sure they're still interviewing and still offering spots.

And remember, it's Nova Southeastern or NSU 😉

Hey. If they weren't accepting any more students, they wouldn't still be interviewing. I know for sure they are still interviewing because I had lunch w/interviewees yesterday.

I'm one of those "I love it here" people. There are some things that people want changed, but many things are changeable. Some things are not, but those are things that students knew about before they got to the school. I have had some really positive experiences with some faculty that will change some of the curriculum for next year, all for the better. The fact that the faculty is willing to listen to student suggestions for change is really amazing. The upperclasspeople have changed some things for us, and we are changing some things for future students. I think the unhappy people are in the minority, but I really can't speak for anyone else.

Best of luck, and I hope to see you next year.

Is it true that you can find out if you're accepted at NSU the next (business) day? I have acceptance fee deposits due in a few weeks.

Ok, not exactly, but I may have ONE due in a few weeks.😀

Mine wasn't quite that fast....I interviewed Friday December 12th and was called on Wednesday December 17th with my acceptance.

I thought that was super fast, considering I am still waiting from some schools that I interviewed at 4 weeks or so ago.

IT depends on when you interview. I found out the next day because I interviewed the dya before the committee met.

Not Shorty,

Call the school, probably Mary Webster. You can ask when your committee met or will meet, and they will let you know. If they already know and made a decision, they might just tell you on the phone.

Good luck!!

My interview was on 1/16 (Fri) and Mary Webster suggeted we email or call her that following Wed/ Thurs. The committee was meeting on Tuesday. But I didn't get it by certified mail until almost 1/29.

Good Luck!!!

🙂 Thanks for your reply. So I guess there is still a chance I could get in. I appreciate your encouragement! I need it:scared:
And congratulations on your acceptance!!!   👍

I think only those who have transversed this path (process) truly understand what all this really means. Applying. Interviewing. Waiting. We're all some degree of varying idealist/perfectionist/obsessive/compulsive freaks... and our friends and family always reassure us, ITS GOING TO BE OKAY!!!

I don't know where that came from.

Hope you called or emailed Mary. NSU-COM by far was the nicest Admissions staff.

i was just interviewed at nova this week. I'm hoping i get in. I'm not sure if my interview went that well though. I didnt have a good mcat and they obviously asked me about that. I hoping i get a positive response. does nebody know if nova is really picky on gpa and mcat

I think the interview question about your scores was just to see how you'd respond to it... If they wanted to interview you than your mcat/gpa should be alright with them... Good Luck and hope to see you in August!

NSUCOM class of 2008

YIKES! Sunystudent! I sure hope what you're saying isnt true cuz I just got my invitation for an interview via email this afternoon! My interview is scheduled to be on March 15...I sure dont plan on spending over 300 bucks on an interview for nothing!! I think they' probably still conducting interviews/accepting students...otherwise why would they send me an invitation? 🙄

Kiwi,

Don't worry. If all the spots were filled, they wouldn't invite you for an interview. It costs THEM money and time as well, and they wouldn't use up their resources if all the spots were filled. I'm not saying that everyone who interviews gets in, but just that all the spots can't possibly be filled if they are still interviewing.

Best of luck to you!!

Dear Kiwi,

Just to reiterate what DoctorInSpace said and some reassurance...by having an interview late means they liked something they saw in your application and wouldn't have invited you for an interview if they thought you were a decent/qualified applicant. As for the number of spots, not all the spots are filled. There are some people who have interviewed at NSUCOM, been accepted, yet turned down their matriculation to attend another medical school. One has to take this into account. So, you really don't know how many open seats there are. If they are still interviewing, that means they have some room. Just relax, be yourself, be honest, be motivated, finish what you are doing now and go out and have a few drinks 🙂

Funny how drinking always is incoroporated into my posts....hmmmm....I miss Jack.

Doogie

thanks DoctorDoogie4/DoctorInSpace! I feel "muchhhh reassurred " after reading your posts. I definitely wanna go and check NSU out! It really seems like a great school! I'm sooo psyched about this interview!! Any tips on interviewing at NSU? --I've read most of the NSU-COM interview feedbacks on SDN already...but you all would probably have some even better tips since you all are actually CURRENT students @ NSU. Anything would be greatly appreciated!
anyhoo...thanks again !!
😉

Kiwi: My interview at NSU was laid back and friendly. I was interviewed by 3 physicians. They made it clear that they were no longer interested in my paper credentials, they just wanted to get to know me. One question: How did you find out about NSU? I had an interesting story for this. I had several reasons for picking this school over others.

1. Clinical opportunities - NSU as far as I know is one of the only games in town - they are not competing with a ton of other schools for good clerkship spots.

2. My parent live in Florida now (family).

3. Impressive facilities

4. The Dean - he was a pretty cool guy with interestinf experiences and perspectives - you should have the opportunity to meet him, I believe he meets with all prospective students.

Plan to be there the whole day. I would think that NSU is not the kind of school that would interview you if you didn't have a chance of getting a spot. Good luck. I hope to see you in the fall.

In regards to your post Kiwi and your interview...here are some tips...

1) Be honest....they can see through BS
2) Don't get offensive....many times these panels want to see how you overcame your obstacles. So don't get pissed and all offensive when they ask "So ...why did you have trouble with this course" or so and so.
3) Be loose and candid
4) Show enthusiasm about medicine. They want people who are enthusiastic about learning and carrying on the tradition of practicing great medicine.

Hope this helps....

I too have heard this rumor from several pre-meds and M1's about the class being filled. Let me just say this.. i gurantee all of you that the class is not remotely filled yet. Anyone who would suggest otherwise is either trying to scare the highly gullible pre-med populus or is just very misinformed. Don't worry guys.. there are plenty of spots to be had....

😛 Thanks guys for all of your encouragement. the students from NSU really seem to be friendly and I look foward to visiting your school:hardy: :hardy:

ya i just met them last wk...they're def some of nicest ppl you will meet in any of your interviews
