So I'm new to this thing...I read it all the time but decided to join today...

To start off on a happy note...I was accepted not too long ago at WVSOM and waitlisted at UMDNJSOM..that being said

today I called Nova to find out the status of my application..they told me I was complete the beginning of August so I was calling out of concern for silence the past few months..so I call and turns out they lost my recommendation letter packet sent out by my health professions office August 8th and are not listing my file as complete!

I called my health professions office today and they were sending it to them via virtual evals...how much does this hurt my chances now of getting an interview???? 😡

I'd say you're still not late in the game. Have you asked in the admissions office if you can be bumped to the front since you were told you were complete and it was no fault of your own? Also, I got my invite from them pretty quickly after being complete, and I was there about 12 days ago.

I was interviewed at Nova without my file being complete.... They actually lost two of my rec letters... I had to have one professor send his in twice and another three times… The first letter they lost, the second they lost two of the three pages and finally, the third time, they gave me a fax number to speed up the process… I had the prof fax the letter and then called them and waited on the phone while they found the fax and placed it in my file…. they are a little absent minded when it comes to rec letters but they do interview with your not being complete… actually during the interview they went through and for every person, told them if their file was complete or not and if it was not complete they told us what part was missing!

KCOM lost my LORs, I am so pissed. Every other school got them OK, but not KCOM (I am sure KCOM lost them some how).

I interviewed yesterday and I had the same problem. They were uploaded to virtualevals and downloaded by all schools on August 16! except NOVA! They told me that they had checked the website and did not find me. How the hell!!! I immediately called my pre-med advisor since it was a committee letter right after the interview and she double checked on virtualevals and I was there and could see who had downloaded the packect and NOVA had not. So they are either sucking their thumbs or new at this, fortunately it was the latter. My advisor explained to me that this was the first time NOVA was using virtualevals and they had made a mistake at first and when your name was being entered on the website under NOVA they were putting a 1 in front of your name: 1Last, First name. So call them and ask them to check your name with a number 1 in front of it. I informed them but I have not checked if they got it yet. I faxed my stuff right away since they said they could use the fax to complete my application for review, however they still want the virtualeval copy as an original.

you know what, this isn't an isolated incident and you're in the same situation i'm in.

I called today and they told me they lost my LOR packet from my pre-health committee. So i gotta get it sent again. Kinda irritating actually.

Congratulations on your acceptance! Wow, I am glad I didn't apply there. It certainly seems like they are very disorganized and that they have a habit of doing this type of thing. Kind of scary...I think I would go to WVSOM if I were you and forget about this school. They are supposed to be trying to impress you when you apply so you want to go to the school. Imagine how bad it might be if you actually enroll! (No offense to anyone at Nova😀 )

they lost my aacomas application two weeks ago, but still sent me a secondary...i had to have another accomas app sent in though. i have been calling and they still have not got my file complete yet

now nova is accepting virtual evals?? i didnt know that! I thought that they didnt accept them?? that's why my school mailed it to them via snail mail... but they STILL managed to loose all my LOR's.... n at the end, i ended up getting my LOR's faxed to nsu the day of my interview!

but yeh... nova is kind of known for loosing things....so def keep an eye on all ur stuff!!

Unfortunately our admissions office is not always the most organized. They just are very over extended.

I am sorry that you guys have all had bad experiences with our admissions office, I too had a few issues.

That being said, there are a few things to keep in mind:
1. They interview without you being complete...the LORs being in has nothing to do with you gettting an interview.
2. Once you get here...It is great. My BIGGEST complaint about my ENTIRE experience over two years was that admissions wasn't very reliable (I'll take bad admission over bad anything else). I have been here almost two years, and don't regret my decision to come here at all. I feel as if I am getting a great education--and that is the important thing in the end.

To those who are still frustrated, hold tight...be patient...be polite when you speak to admissions (even if you are mad)...it gets better.

NOVA lost my letters of rec too...then...they wrote my rejection letter 10 days before they told me to send another LOR, when they already knew that they were sending a rejection letter. Basically, I went through all of the trouble to have another letter sent out for no apparent reason.

You are right. it seems they have problems with such things but once you are there, trust me, they DO impress you, or at least the school does! By the way they send me an email telling me that they received the LOR's. So if you have not gotten that email, call in and check.

All i'm saying is that its kinda frustrating that in september i was complete, and when i called them to see what was up, they told me late october that they had lost me LOR packet and i need to get it sent again. Shouldn't they have called me or notified me if they had lost it? Instead of me just waiting here thinking everything was fine?

Just a thought and i'm getting it sent again. hopefully it'll all pan out. just alil frustrating.

I understand.

Regardless, it hasn't affected your chance of being accepted or getting an interview...and most likely if they lost it, they didn't realize that they lost it. I am sure if they realized that they lost it that they would have done whatever they could to fix the issue.

Hold tight, Nova is a great school. The admissions office just has a lot on their hands. 🙂

I am glad that you find it appropriate to bash your school. It is dishartening to me. However, you are not doing anyone any favors. All you are doing is belittling own education and de-valuing your future degree.

In two more years, you are going to be on rotations and realize what a great education you are getting. Lucky for me, it didn't take that long for me to realize it. I realized it this summer when I was surrounded by ppl from many medical schools across the nation.

I am a second year at NSU...and although first year was very difficult for me, I feel as if I am getting a great education. Medical school is a BIG adjustment for everyone, but I am glad that it is difficult. My future patients deserve it.

To ANYONE who has a question about the quality of education that they think they will get...feel free to contact me. I can provide you with as much information as you would like, and would be more than happy to get you into contact with others as well.
