Anyone going to NOVA's open house? If you would like to meet up or if you are a current NOVA student and would like to show some prospective students around, PM me or email at [email protected]

I'll be there on Sunday. I'm from Orlando (UCF) so it's not a far drive. I've heard great things about the campus. any idea if adcoms will be there?

Admissions is trying to round up some current students to give tours at the open house, but they may have trouble finding M-1's since we have a big Physiology test on Monday!😡

I'll be flying in from CT on Saturday night, staying till Monday for my interview. I'd love to meet up with some fellow SDNers, I had an interview at PCOM last week and met our fabulous monitor JPHazelton.

get in touch if interested

I had a GREAT time at NOVA today. I was very impressed with the facilites, the Dean, and all the students I met. The M2 who gave me an awesome tour got me really pumped about coming to Nova. I think NSU just got bumped up into the top 3 for sure!!!

I heard several students today talk about applying to both DO and MD programs.... I got the feeling that it's sort of a black mark from the adcoms there. One the secondary they asked what schools I applied to, so I was honest (16 MD and 4 DO... all on eastern seaboard so I'm closer to family).

Now, I'm nervous about what kind of impression this will make! I am very excited about Nova but I don't want them to think DO is something I have to fall back on. I would attend Nova ina heartbeat over some MD schools I applied to.

I really hope I showed the adcoms that I'm truly interested in osteopathy in my personal statement and secondary essays! Yikes!

Any advice or thoughts on this?

I am accepted into the class of 2008 and I am pumped as well. I always say honesty is the best policy. There are liars, damn liars, and statisticians. I also applied to some MD schools and I was never questioned about them. If I was questioned I would have been honest about it. Good luck and God bless.

Hi, I have been acceppted to NSU (make sure while you are there to call it NSU vs calling it NOVA) and I applied to 19 allopathic schools. At the interview they asked me why so many md schools if I want to go DO and I todl them how I just want to increase my chances of getting in and I will be a physician no matter the 2 letters behind my name. So just be honest with them. A lot of applicants apply to both so don't sweat it 😉

Good Luck!

Thanks for all the input.

For those who got interviews... was it by email or snail mail? I'm waiting to hear from them any day!

drlexygoat,

check your PMs and just to let everyone know NSU seems to be very quick at getting information out even though it is by snail mail. hope this helps and good luck to all the applicants.

drlexygoat, my interview invitation came in the mail in a big, white envelope (thick too).

They send you two computer CD's (one about NSU and the other about the College of Osteopathic Medicine), a copy of the COM newsletter and a bunch of papers. The papers contain instructions on how to get to NSU, hotel info, etc., a list of students that have volunteered to answer questions and to house applicants, and two forms you have to sign and return: a dress code/attendance policy form and a OMM form. Basically the forms state that you understand and will abide by the dess code and attendance rules, and the OMM form states that you understand that you will be touched by other people in the process of learning OMM.

Good luck! (and wish me luck too!)
