What is NOVA's POP program? I've read about it in a few older posts but don't have a good idea of what it is. Their website doesn't have alot of information on it as well. I thought it would be for students who don't have strong stats, but their website says it is for students with high stats?? Can someone please explain

It's for 2 types of people: either they have been out of school for a long time and want to go for grad school or people in undergrad (or a year out of undergrad) who don't have strong stats and really convinced admissions why they should be considered. They accept about 25 kids, and the wait list for it is very long. To someone I know, it was her "saving grace" into NSU optometry school.

Thanks! Do you know what you would need to do/ stats to have to be considered into the program?

It's usually the school's discretion. Usually people try to not be considered in it because in a way it's like a "remedial" class, but some people would rather have it than being flat out rejected. For some people I know, low OAT with a high personality might get you considered, especially if you went to the Nova for undergrad.

You're not fully accepted into the optometry school, you have one year to take certain courses, and if you pass them, then you're accepted into the school.

I think I know someone who was accepted into the program but I’m not sure because she received her white coat this year? How many years is the program
