Hi guys! i wanted to know if any of you have heard of this before:

if you apply to the dental post-bac program at NOVA (Master of Biomedical Sciences) and you keep a gpa of at least a 3.0 .. you are guaranteed a spot in the dental class..

is it true?!

thanks for the help!

things like this is why I read most of the threads on SDN... do n't want to miss something worthwhile. Thanks guys 🙂

it's an extremely competitive program to get in to. there's about 8 seats for easily over 100 applicants. i'm speaking of the dental side only.

A quick search resulted in this answer.
I think this link is from 2003... I called the folks 'bout a month ago and asked them if I graduated with a certain GPA would I be guaranteed an interview? They said maybe a long time ago, but not these days. They said they cannot guarantee anything with "cross over" programs. That's just what the folks told me. BUT they were nice as crap and that campus is freaking RAD!!!!

I agree. The deal used to be that you were guaranteed an interview, not a spot in the class. But times have changed, and if you talk to the school they will tell you that they can't guarantee anything like that.

Dr. Lippman (Dean of admissions at Nova dental school) seems to like Barry University's BMS master's program quite a bit, so you should look into that if you're hunting for post-bac/M.S. options and are interested in Nova. He has stated (a few times) that last year at least 12-14 students were admitted from BMS into Nova dental school, and this has been the case as of the past couple of years. During my Nova interview, the tour guide (a D1) said he did the Nova master's program and got in, but I haven't heard of anyone else that got in that way in the 2012 class. With those odds, I would put my money on Barry's program (and I guess I have, because thats where I'm currently attending lol).

Well as I understand it, in Nova's MBS program if you score 80% or higher in all of the classes you are required to take, you get in the following year, no questions asked. Yes Dr. Lippman accepted like 10 people from Barry in our class (2012) but he has said that he probably won't accept as many this year. Also if you do end up doing one of the programs at Barry, try to do the 1 year program, not the 2 year. The 1 year will be more intense and thus representative of how dental school will be. Thats what i have heard, not to say you couldn't get in after doing the 2 year program though.

I did the 1yr Nova masters and am in the 2012 class. Here are the facts, pure and simple:

- there are about 8-9 spots for year for dental, varies per app cycle
- if you get a final grade of 80% in all the classes you take as part of the program, you automatically matriculate to being accepted as a dental student for the upcoming term.

Its tru that many people from Barry do get in. But realize that many that did really well at Barry didnt get in. At Nova, if you kick ass, get the 80% required, you will be a D1...

I have an interview to the nova post-boc program this month and was wondering what the interview was like?? Does anyone know!!! pleaseee I really would love to go there!!! hehe

Do you have the website that explains the post bacc program for Nova, I tried to find it but have been unsuccessful. Do you know the criteria you need to have in order to get in? Thanks!
