😕 So I FLAT OUT got REJECTED by NOVA ~ the worst part is that I found that out by logging into AADSAS... 🙁
Have any of you written to Su Ann Zarrett to find out the reasoning behind your application being denied?
I wasn't expecting to hear from NOVA since I applied somewhat late and by the time they got my application interviews were being given out in March... but still, a flat out rejection!

Oh well!
Any thoughts?

Today around that time I was checking my AADSAS and nothing. When I came home I saw the small envelope from Nova addressed to me. Opened it and figuered it was the rejection letter [since it was only on page]. My rejection letter consisted of five sentences.

I doubt that the Admissions Committee actually took their time to review my application.

I felt down, but then I took a long shower...maybe later on this week I will feel better.

By the way Sue-Ann, does not return messages or emails, I know you are busy, but come on, I did pay my $50 bucks, can you please reply?

Yea, she is impossible to get a hold of. That says a lot about their program though. I mean, I know there are tons of applicants but is this how they treat their possibly incoming students? Oh well collegeboy, it's there loss!

I don't think trying to get a hold of a admissions member during the heat of the cycle is telling of a program. If anything it shows they have a ton of people trying to get in. That should be a good thing.

You have a point, but I disagree... I just got an email from NYU at 10:30pm at night from the director of admissions and I know NYU has tons of applicants.
In my opinion, this shows that they care about their prospective students.

I was interviewed at BU in mid October, and they had 2,900 applicants at the time. Getting in contact with a person from the admissions committee was not difficult. It is no surprise that the number of applicants is growing exponentially. The organizational skills of a dental school is indicative of the way they carry themselves even of hundreds of applicants are trying to get a hold of them. I did pay a $50 application fee; it is my right to have my questions answered. Nova is unorganized, it took them four months to review my application, and all they can say in the five sentences, and “...I regret to inform you that we cannot accept you for the 2007 entering class." REGRET, what, just tell me which I criteria I did not meet! Other posts on SDN have students receiving TWO rejection letters from NOVA! I strongly, strongly doubt that the Admissions Committee even looked at my application.

Your bad experience doesn't change my mind bro. I thought it was a sweet school, having seen it in person.

Sorry you had a bad experience with them.
Good Luck

Prior to receiving the rejection letter, I defended Nova because it had the reputation of being unorganized. Now I have experienced it.

I live ten minutes from the school, it may be nice from the outside, but I personallly know D-1s and D-2s currently enrolled, and they say that the school is constantly changing the curriculum, and the majority of the time the internet does not work, nowhere to study in the library, the cafeteria is too crowded.

I have gone to three Open House events, of course they are going to show you the best things, they are trying to recuit students!

Call right now...cal Sue-Ann and I bet it goes to her voice message, and I bet you do not receive a call back from her.

Call ANY other schools Admissions Coordinator and I bet you receive a response within a week from them.

Nova is a a really nice school...i didn't look up ur stats to see where you are from...but you'll love the area. South Florida is a great place to be. :-D Good luck.🙂

First hand information...you are WAY better off not going there.

I am not saying that I will go there, but explain...............

I got hit up with my second rejection too from NOVA. I added them really late though after they were already swamped so I'm not too upset. I don't think I could afford to fly to Florida at this point anyway.

I wish you the best at the interview at Nova.

My friends [who were not rejected,] told me the interview is more of a conversation than just traditional questionaire.

I interviewed in September. 👍 But you are right, it was a cake interview.

I can't speak for your experiences, but NOVA didn't seem disorganized at all to me. I called Su-Ann and Akisha on separate occaisions. Su-Ann answered on the first try and Akisha called me back within 20 minutes. On the other hand, I can't imagine that all of you had bad luck. The interview was very layed back as others have said. Anyways, I was impressed with the school and am hoping for a fat envelope on Dec 1 😛

What are the specific negatives of NOVA other than cost of living? Any info would help.
