I was completing the supplemental application for NOVA when I realized I would have to write the TOEFL exam. I have been living in Canada for 14 years and took two university level English courses that fills the requirement for optometry. I don't understand why they still require the TOEFL exam to be written. All the other school I have applied to have no problems. Why does NOVA require this? I have contacted them and they told me to send them official reports. Has anyone else had problems with this?

I thought that too. Looking back at all the websites now, some don't mention Canada being exempt. Only NECO makes it clear that Canadian students do not require the TOEFL. I don't know what to do...my application is submitted and if the schools don't let me separately write the exam and send it in, i guess my application will just be thrown out. Waste of money and time 🙁

on other websites I remember some say that you need your courses checked out if you go to school outside of the US or CA

Ya the link you sent is not for the optometry program.Ya I'm not sure. You said you have been living in Canada for 14 years , are you originally from a different country that doesn't speak English? Maybe that matters to them :/
