Hey guys, I’ve been accepted to both Nova and SCO and I’m having a really hard time deciding between the schools. I loved the support and facilities at SCO, but not so much the living situation. At Nova, I didn’t get a super close-knit vibe, but I liked how I could be a part of a huge community of professional students, while having access to a great patient base and top notch equipment. Both schools will cost the same for me in terms of tuition and living. I’ve heard wonderful things about both schools and cities, which is making my decision way harder. I was hoping to get some advice from students at the school as to why you made your choice? Any suggestions on how to make my decision any easier? What was your experience at either school?

Hello friend, I was also accepted to both SCO and NOVA this cycle. It was a no-brainer for me, SCO all the way. At SCO, the entire faculty and staff are focused on optometry while at NOVA optometry is just a neglected branch. What I saw at NOVA was a poor layout, students were not happy, traffic, gorgeous area, and a less established optometry program. Keep in mind that everyone is different and this might be the perfect school for you. At SCO, I felt like they wanted me the most, I loved the housing on Mud Island, the clinic is the best, the students were happy, and the school is very established and put together. But, Memphis is always on the top of "Worst cities in America to live in" lists. I will be happy in my Mud Island bubble ha ha. Good luck with your decision!

I love Memphis! And mud island is actually awesome because everyone lives there and it has given us all the chance to get really close to one another. Plus it’s beautiful along the river and the cost of living is inexpensive but you still get nice amenities. I went to an optometry conference recently and many of the ODs (even the non-SCO grads) said I made the right choice in attending SCO. I’m very happy here and can tell I’m getting the best education.
