These are my three options. I am a FL resident. I know Nova is newer but I'm in state, so it would be nice to be close to home. But do these big name schools play a big role in residencies? Not sure if I even want to specialize right now haha

Any advice?

Nova is probably the cheaper school.

Tufts and NYU are one of the most expensive schools out there. I've heard some pretty bad stories from NYU but both Tufts and NYU would prep you well for specializing if you wanted. NYU is super super super expensive but you would get a nice education there. I can't really say anything about Tufts, I don't know much about it. But I would highly consider Nova being that people still get into specialty programs but it isn't too common, when I interviewed there, there was abotu 20% of the class pursuing specialty. (They aren't THAT new, btw.)

Hello! I was wondering if you could elaborate a bit about the pros/cons of NYU? (minus the price haha)

I know nothing about NOVA so I won't compare that.

Tufts:
I've heard nothing but good things about it. Every dentist I talked to has praised Tufts for its academics, clinics and generally great atmosphere. They've also got the relatively new floors added, so they're definitely introducing new things to the school. From my personal experience while interviewing there, I really didn't like how the elevators were always so packed. But besides that, Boston is a great place to be.

NYU:
I've heard mixed stories about this school. Some people praise their facilities and academics. However, the dentist that I worked for was a NYU graduate and he warned me not to go to NYU because of the debt and because of how there were so many students, the administration could come off as being more callous than in a smaller school. Because of that piece of advice, as well as doing my own research online, I ended up not applying here even though I'm a NY resident.

In a comparison just between Tufts and NYU, I would suggest Tufts is the better option.

I know some D1's at NYU and they all like it a lot...don't know anything about Tufts. I'm waitlisted for NOVA but I still think I will choose NYU over Nova if I get off of the waitlist

NYU kids seemed really stressed by 4th year to me. I think you'd get a great clinical experience, especially if you wanted to become a GP. I don't know how high their match rates are, but I didn't get the feel from admissions that they were particularly impressive (I was told that I shouldn't consider oral surgery, since I would only be disappointed when I couldn't get a residency). Not that they're bad, probably just average. With such a large class, I'm sure that you'll have to be on your game for a shot at the more competitive residencies.

Just go to Nova
- established program
- will prepare for FL boards
- fun area that is neither expensive nor cold
