Does Nova send out updates as they receive application materials? I realized that I have not heard from them since applying. It seems like most of the schools send out updates. Anyone else having this problem?

hey, Nova actually does send out notifications. I sent my application in on October 16th. After they received it a few days later, they emailed me notifications of what they've received from me. Then i got my invite for an interview on the 24th of October. So I actually see Nova as one of the most punctual schools so far other than SCCO.

NOVA sends out automated emails as they receive materials from you, but it's not specific as to what they received, so in that case just call. They are pretty up to date and very accessible on the phone (Fran is very helpful). I just went there for an interview last week and they update you on what they have in your file so far and what's missing at that point.

Hi,

I have a question regarding NOVA's personal statement. All they asked was to write a brief statment describing your reasons for choosing a career in optometry. I wanted to know if it's okay for me to go beyond what they asked. Mine PS for NOVA turns out to be 2 pages double space. I also included what my long term goals were and other things I feel important. Was your personal statment long and eloborative? Thanks for your help!

My personal statement was fairly long and elaborative. However, my PS was fairly short. I feel that you need to take as much room as you can to fully define who you are and why you want to be an OD

I'm sorry... I wasn't quite thinking right earlier. I was thinking the PS was that little "describe any special circumstances that could aide in the evaluation...." section. Now that I read it right, PS is for personal statement 😛

My PS was fairly long and that question on the bottom of page 4 was fairly short.

Mine wasn't very long...if I remember correctly I think it was a full page (not double-spaced). I think that that is about 2 pgs double-spaced so you are fine. At the end of the day, it's the content that matters. Good luck =)

Hey, thanks! Mine is about 2 pages long double spaced...what a relief! I thought mine was too long and will get trashed!
