I've been looking for comments about Nova, but haven't found much.

What is Nova's reputation? Do they provide good clinical training? Are students happy with the program?

If anyone could provide some guidance on this, I'd appreciate it!

I know a few D1s and D2s at Nova. They have mandatory attendance which can be a pain for those who aren't morning-friendly. I will ask them your questions and post back when I get some answers.

This is one response:

Nova's reputation has been growing exponentially over the last few years. I now believe Nova is one of the top institutions. A friend of mine applied to Tufts and Nova. He had an 18 DAT and a 3.5 GPA. He was rejected from Nova without an interview and got accepted to Tufts. Classic example.

The clinical traning provided at Nova seems adequate. I am unsure about this considering that the D3's and D4's are working in the clinic and I have only begun my D2 year. I have not heard of any Nova graduate having trouble with finding a job.

Overall I, along with my classmates, are happy students. Of course, there are little things that go wrong here and there but overall, I would sasy the students are happy!

Hope this helps!

Hope her response was helpful 🙂

When I went there, all the students I saw seemed pretty happy/decent/friendly.

Hey Phungy,

Thanks so much for asking and posting.

I'll probably have some more questions for you...I've been invited for an interview there.

Thanks again!

Not as accurate as we'd like, but this early on it should be okay.

For mine it was updated on addsas, then like 3-5 days later i received a letter in the mail requesting confirmation. be sure to call quickly because you have 2 weeks from the date of the letter to confirm the interview.

congrats on the interview!

Thanks for clarifying!

mine was snail mail, rec'd ~2 weeks after status updated. i called the day after 2 week mark, but was told it was ok (i was on vacation). kinda weird that they said 2 weeks from the date on the letter, but then they postmarked it (date of stamp on envelope) a week later, so in essence you might only have 1 week to reply!
good luck.

Nova is AMAZING. I've visited several times for tours, and they have a "Pre-Dental Day" where their ASDA chapter invites the Pre-Dental ASDA groups from all over Florida where they give us lunch and tours (all done by the students). All their students seem to absolutely love it there! The school itself is only a few years old so its beautiful. One of our trips there they actually let us walk around their clinic during the day and sort of job shadow all 100ish of their D3s/D4s doing their clinicals. It was awesome! My Pre-Dental ASDA chapter actually invited Dr. Lippman (Dean of Admissions) to speak at one of our meetings, and the 6 officers took him out to dinner afterwards. He is VERY down to earth and not intimidating at all, and thus the interview is nothing to be nervous about, he's not there to scare you! Going to school in Orlando, I've also met up with several Nova graduates who are now practicing dentists. They have said their experience at Nova was nothing but great, and obviously they got the experience they needed to succeed after dental school.

Two thumbs up for Nova!

I just started attending Nova, and so far I love it. There are things i don't like/think are petty. Like the mandatory attendance. I have talked to alot of upperclassmen/women and lets put it this way, Nova has its issues, but what school doesn't. I am confident that I will learn to become a competent dentist here, so if you have any interest in applying do so it isn't a bad school.

Hi. I recently got an update on AADSAS saying i got invited for an interview, but when I tried calling NSU directly nobody picked up. Should I just wait for them to give me the letter thru snail mail? Is there a telephone number in there that I can speak to someone directly? Thanks

you should receive snail mail in ~1 week from the time your status is changed.

In addition to those questions,

URGENT QUICK POP REPLY THREAD

1. Research
* Based on a few other posts, Nova D-students seem not much deeply involved in research during D-yrs.

* Are there any unique features regarding research activities at NOVA?

2. Faculty
Nova is proud of their globally renowned faculty members.
Can anybody give any specific examples? Any comments?

3. Is it true that there are many fully tuned fancy cars? 😍

4. Do they really play "beat down"? 😳

5. Is Florida safe? :scared:

** I think Nova sticks to traditional curriculum. Their curriculum is not innovative compared with a few other D-schools. Even so, I like their curriculum, too.

State of the art facility is the most outstanding feature of this school, I think. A few Nova D-students had kept saying "D-school is a dental school" "Weather is awesome!"

Anyway, facility is very very important at least for me, too!

Ok? Anything more?

visbimmer: how exactly do you compile this 'research'?

Just search forums...and try to quote a few points that are relevant with my topic.

Anyway, I hope I can see any new things regarding NOVA by tomorrow.
This is urgent!! 🙂
