Just curious what people know about Nova. I have heard mostly good things but only from a few people. Is it a good school? How competitive is it to get in? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi, its really competitive. A lot of applicants apply there and they interview ppl with the highest stats first and give preference to them. Of course, there are matriculants with deviations from those stats, so have hope =). Its a good school and currently they have good clinical experience. I tried to schedule a dental appt. but they said it would take 2-3 months to get an appointment caz of their waitlist. Also, wanted to extract my wisdom teeth and they said I would have to wait 1.5 weeks for an appt. The professors I know of are nice and the campus looks new. Hope that helps.

I just got an interview invite from NOVA and my stats are in my signature (not extraordinary...but relatively average). I'm also a Fl resident, so I know that may have an effect on who gets invites when.

I actually met Dr. Lippman, the dean of admissions for NOVA. He's a funny guy, very laid back (yet professional) and puts emphasis on biology education (the more upper-level sciences, the better).

When I visited NOVA, the students seemed to be overwhelmingly 'international' and much more laid back than students I met at UF. Attendance is mandatory no option to watch class online 👎 ), but they all seemed happy to be at NOVA.

Another important thing to note is that Davie, Fl is a beautiful (yet superficial) place to live. It's relatively inexpensive compared to NYC, etc.

AND - I forgot to mention that you take your NBE1 during D1, so their pass-rate is much lower than the comparable UF pass-rate of 100%.

Just a few things to consider. 👍

Hey to all those who applied to Nova, did you guys get an email about financial assistance? I didn't get any interview invite or anything. I am assuming they send it out to everyone who applies

Thanks that helps a lot. This was the last school I added to my list because a friend told me about it right before I applied. I didnt know much about it but he said it was great and it looked like a good school from what I read. I got an interview invite today, I am pretty excited to check it out!

im fairly confident this statement is wrong. i dont have the exact sources on me, but i know nova has a pretty high passing rate for the boards, very comparable to UF. there in the 90's i know. just be careful what you put on sdn because some people actually beleive everything thats said on here. also, people should realize passing rate for boards is not that good of an indicator of a quality school. boards are designed to pass the students. in my opinion comparing passing rate for licensure exams is a better indicator.

Actually, I'm friends with a student from Nova and they have told me the same thing...that the passing rate is rather low.

Congrats to those who received an invite!!

May I ask a question tho? Is sending our undergrad transcripts directly to the school necessary? I have everything done including the supplement but I don't see a "received date" for my Bachelor's transcript. Is sending an official one from our undergrad schools (not from AADSAS) necessary to be considered complete?

I just submitted everything through AADSAS you dont need to send in anything else if u have ur LOE, Transcripts and DAT scores already in there. U also need to send in the supplementary.

I see. That means you don't see a date for "Transcript - Bachelors", right? Just want to be a little more specific here.

it takes about 4 weeks to process the transcript through addsas, once that is done then the schools will get it

lol i think you misunderstood my application status. I was in the first batch so everything is in there already. And they did receive my application (through email and also the supplement's application status webpage).

I have dates for everything (AADSAS app, recommendation letters, scores, fees), but not for "Transcript - Bachelor." So I was just wondering if I had to see a date for that row as well to be considered complete.

I have the same thing as you: the "Received" column is blank with no dates listed for bachelor/master transcripts. But, I did get a email from them with the subject title: "IMPORTANT! NSU Admissions Document Notification." And they basically mentioned that they have my complete app which will be forwarded to the admissions office for review. So, I don't think we need to send in an offical transcript to Nova. My guess is that they probably require the official transcript once you are accepted and ready to matriculate.

this is straight from their site:
"A final transcript, documenting all courses taken, must be forwarded to the Office of Admissions prior to matriculation. Incomplete applications will not be considered"

Ah...I see. Thanks for clearing my doubt. I got nervous because all of a sudden so many people get interviews from Nova. I'm not saying that I should be getting one, but in comparison to Western's supplement webpage, blanks seem to be a little odd since Western uses the same system and I didn't see any blanks under any categories.

Thanks again.

you're welcome! and good luck! I hope you get an interview from Nova🙂

i was wondering this too, so i called them and asked and the lady said that That line for the transcript bachelor on their application status check is for a final transcript if an applicant will get accepted. Basically, if you get accepted they will require you to send them the final transcript bc during this coming up school year you might be taking classes so they want the final transcript. hope that helps

Has anyone's DAT scores not appeared on the secondary application? My DAT scores are posted on AADSAS 7/1 but have not appeared on Nova's secondary

Thanks for the info. That helps a lot, especially with my stress status lol

That's weird. Maybe you should contact their admission office and check your application status.
