It has just come to my attention today that my NRMP ID, registered since September, was not listed in my ERAS profile. I re-enterred my NRMP# right away, however, I am now somewhat paranoid that some program may not be able to find me in NRMP?

To the PCs and PDs on this forum: Do you go by the NRMP ID or AAMC ID when ranking applicants? Should I notify each program that my NRMP is now correctly linked to my ERAS?

Thanks!

You should change your status.

And the PCs will probably continue to download information from ERAS for this reason and (for those for which it matters) to check for passing scores on Step 2. I've been told by someone who was paranoid for the same reasons, that a PC told him that they are still able to find people without their NRMP number, but it makes it more difficult.

Hah whoops. I just realized that mine was missing from my profile as well

This does not matter at all. The NRMP ID thing is new this year. MOst PD's (including myself) are planning on using your AAMC ID to rank you.

This is a non issue.

Edit: OK, that pic was a bit bigger than I wanted. Is there a way to shrink it other than using an image editor (more work than I care to invest)?

Edit2: Fixed thanks to Ronin. I was frsutrated that it appeared like I could shrink it in the SDN editor, but then it just jumped back to full size.

We can also use name and medical school to find you. It's really not a big deal--don't worry.

You can always have someone else do it 😛

Sort of to piggbyack on the initial question, does the time-frame you register for NRMP have a bearing on whether programs rank you?

I registered in Late December thinking that programs wouldn't start ranking till January/February. I could imagine some programs could potentially rank as they go but then again if they liked you enough, they should probably contact you even if you weren't registered for the NRMP to make sure you got registered. Making the fact that you haven't registered for NRMP the dealbreaker for ranking seems pretty arbitrary. That being said, I did read on the interwebs that not being registered for NRMP could indicate to a program you are not participating in the match. A bit of a nervous nelly at this point.

You're worried about nothing. Registering in Dec is fine, except for the fact that it's less expensive if you register by Nov 30th.

Agreed. NRMP didn't even open for programs to enter their ROL until mid January. As a coordinator, if I have a concern that someone I'm ranking isn't going to be eligible, believe me--I will call that person to make sure they know about the issue and know how to get it resolved. I don't want my program to potentially lose someone based on a technical glitch.

I received this email 6 days ago and needed to add my NRMP ID to ERAS. I called the NRMP today just to verify that this would not be an issue. They told me this was no problem and that programs use other factors to search for you when ranking (name, school, USMLE ID). I needed to hear it from the horses mouth 😀 Good luck in the match!
