So when I interviewed at program A, I was there for a categorical spot. However, since the interview, I have decided that I want to do a transition year for my intern year. This program also offers Advanced positions. Even though I interviewed as a categorical, does this matter if I list them on the NRMP as advanced?

It shouldn't matter. The program will have 2 match numbers, 1 for the advanced spots and another different number for the categorical spots. Rank each # in the order you'd like to match. When you say you interviewed for a categorical spot, I think what you mean is in ERAS you only clicked the categorical box, but I don't think it makes any difference.

Make sure the program knows that you plan on ranking their 4- and 3- year spots. Since, you only applied to the 3 year through ERAS, they may not know of your intentions. Give the program coordinator a call.
