Did you all see the survey from the nrmp? one of the last questions asked if you ranked any program at which you applied to but did not interview at.
Why would anyone do that? would a program ever rank an applicant they didnt interview?

One of my friends got an email from a program she declined an interview at notifying her she was still going to be ranked by them...

It sometimes happens with prelim programs at your home institution. You apply for Rads, get enough interviews and feel fine about that, but you underapply for prelim spots. Some IM and Surgery prelim programs will rank any students at their school who ask to help keep them from scrambling.

Also, some people (usually IMG's) who get no interviews at all decide to rank a program to make sure they get the scramble list. This is an old wives tale. You get the scramble list if you don't match anywhere, and you don't need to rank anything.

Seems to be two survey emails going around:

1)The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) is interested in learning more about the factors that influence how applicants construct their rank order lists. Your participation in this survey will help future applicants and program directors better understand how applicants select and rank programs.

2)
The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) invites you to participate in the NRMP Applicant Satisfaction Survey.

Curious - which one did most people get?

Actually, those who received the first survey have matched in one of their top 5 programs. Those who received the second survey matched lower than #5 or not at all.

you are really having a laugh are you not.

You're joking, right?

I got the first survey. 5 minutes later I got a call from the president and CEO of a major east coast hospital with the letter J and H in the name. They congratulated me on matching with them and I will be the highest paid resident ever at 99K/year.

I got this one...

Dear NRMP Applicant:

The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) is interested in learning more about the factors that influence how applicants construct their rank order lists. Your participation in this survey will help future applicants and program directors better understand how applicants select and rank programs.

Your participation in this survey is voluntary, and choosing not to participate will not affect your match results in any way. Your individual responses to the questionnaire will remain confidential and will not be shared with any training program.

I guess I'm matching !!!! ZOMG!!!! HAHAHAHA 🙄

That's not accurate because I got the 1st survey, but I withdrew because I had an out of match offer from JHU. I'm sure you freaked some people out though.

Joe's Homeless delousing and glove-free bowel disimpaction hospital, no doubt. They pay high because you'll be paying it right back to them for all the TB and syphilis meds you'll need to survive each rotation. Congrats, I guess.

Congrats on being a tool, I guess.

*****.....go borrow a sense of humor.

BTW, it's fine to dislike my humor, but getting personal and calling someone names on SDN is a violation of the TOS.

And if you think disimpaction is disgusting, you are gonna love intern year.

🙄

I've already done a few... but, congrats for doing it glove-less... I guess.

Everybody can stop throwing insults/mudslinging/name calling/acting like children. Next one to throw out an insult is getting infracted.

<I now return you to the original point of this thread.>

A thread like this pops up each year. Last year there was a rumor that, depending on which email server your NRMP emails were sent from, you could tell if you matched. Some people believed it right up to the end, when of course it was proven completely ridiculous. Two years ago rumors of logging into NRMP and entering some code / clicking some button would show you a message, which you could interpret as whether you matched or not. It's amazing how creative people are.
