Does anyone know much about Oklahoma's College of Optometry. I have been accepted there, among other schools, and was wondering what their reputation is. I know they don't have the best facilities, but they seem to take pride in the clinical experience they offer their students, and the wide range of patients they see.

any thoughts?

I am trying to decide between Southern and NSU.

I will tell you that the clinical education is excellent and you graduate very well prepared to practice at the highest level.

I practiced with a colleague from SCO and I felt that the clinical preparation was not up to par with what I gained at NSUOCO. NSU prepares you well so that the stuff you learn after graduation is not such a steep learning curve.

I am not sure if you are in-state or not, but the cost differential can be huge from a state school to a private school. I am sure you have probably already done that comparison?

The facilities are fine. They are not bright shiny new buidlings, but all in all fine.

It is improtant that you consider your debt load that you will incur because it can be daunting amount that may dictate what type of position you take. I have several colleagues that graduated from ICO and have $160K in debt. With my experience at NSUOCO and my debt load, I don't see how you can service that type of debt and make headway as a newbie in practice.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.
