As someone before acutely mentioned, we are (unfortunately) part of the Echo boom (the largest and end of this "boom"). With the economic downturn, there are more people in school, more people who can apply and more people who realize there are few professions like being a physician (when people say look for another career, there just aren't many that can give you the high pay, job security and employment as being a doctor).
So you (and perhaps around 5 years or so) will have steady increase of applicants, maybe around the top of the curve really. Since we're having less kids (especially in modern era), eventually the number of applicants will go down. We will see it first for colleges (which are still experiencing record number of applicants) and then secondary education will follow.
So I wouldn't doubt that there will be that many applicants with you.
(I don't include non-trads because they only make up a minority of applicants).
