I was wondering where I could find out the laws regarding the number of required work hours to be completed before taking the NAPLEX. For example, it is my understanding that Georgia requires 2000 hours, and most schools will give you 1500 for rotations, but you have to acquire the other 500 outside school when it's not in session. I have a couple of questions about this:

1) Do you follow the requirement for the state of the school you attend? What if you would like to work in a different state upon graduation, do you follow its laws instead? Or do you just follow the laws of the state you're in, and then have to take an additional exam to work in a different state, like, say Texas? I know that California has a totally different exam?

2) Where do I find the requirements for different states, and do they differ a lot?

3) How would you complete the outside hours if you're in a 3 year program?

This is one of the few topics that I would say needs to be moved to the pharm boards...

ok #1 no you follow the state for which you want to be licensed in... i.e. if i want to be licensed in GA i have to do what GA says... if i want to be licensed in GA and AL and FL i have to do what each individual state says but you can score transfer and only have to take the NAPLEX once

#2... on the state board of pharmacy's websites... typically in their "pharmacy practice acts" and no they won't differe HORRIBLY... they will differ some... for example AL requires 400 "traditional" (dispensing) hours after you've completed your "3rd professional year"

#3 some people may not satisfy all of their hour requirements while in school and may have to wait until after school to complete them
