When you are selected for an interview, it must mean that the Committee must like something about you or your application. For me, my MCAT is fairly low (<31) so my goal is to impress at an interview. How do you think the interview experience stacks up to raw numbers when the Committee is making final decisions? I'm pretty sure that someone with very high stats can flub an interview and get denied acceptance. But can an excellent interview make the Committee members look past lower scores?

Your MCAT is not "fairly low," but a strong interview will definitely help.

At one point they worry about your academic performance -- that's before they offer you an interview. Once you get an interview, they're worried about your personality. Don't worry about the scores anymore, they obviously think you can get through medical school. Show them who you are. Yes, a strong interview performance can push you into an acceptance.

Yeah, I think at this poinst numbers are already set in stone, nothing to be done other than nailing the interview.

They don't expect you to have all of the answers, just an opinion. I don't know how anyone going into medicine can't be aware of what's going on right now, and that's what they'd expect of you.
Big changes MAY be coming, so you should be aware of how these proposals can impact your future.

Yeah, just a basic idea and our opinions/thoughts. We're students after all, not health care experts or politicians. I don't think they will be expecting us to give expert knowledge during the interview.

I think I can handle that.

My hope is that the interviewers are more conversational. What do you prefer? I know some people who like a formal Q&A style interview...I do not.

If an app brought a pizza for me I'd give him the thumbs up.

You can make it as conversational as you want. My typical interview was about 80% conversation, but in the middle of it all they'd stop and say "Ok, there are some questions I have to ask..."

Mine so far were pretty conversational. It's not like a job interview where they're out to grill you.

Hahah, I might just do that and tell you how it goes. "Oh hey, I thought you might like a large pizza before we start the interview."
