Numbness in jaw

Okay looking for some cheap advice.

On Monday I started to notice some tingling on the left side of my face close to the corner of my mouth. Sort of felt like I had gotten novacaine but it was wearing off and I was getting feeling back. The semi numb feeling was accompanied by some twitching. The next day I felt sick and the rest of my family has the flu. I had gotten a flu shot earlier in the year and felt pretty good by Thursday morning. However, the numbness on my cheek is still with me. The intensity of the numbness varies but itis pretty comnstant.

Any thoughts?

I do have a past history of TMJ but never these sort of symptoms. I had restricted opening and some pain. Had bilateral arthroscopy in 1999.

I gotta second the recommendation you go see your doctor. Nobody can diagnose accurately over the internet. Your symptoms aren't classic for any commonly seen maladies, and that's pretty much all anybody here is going to be able to tell you.

True. Nobody can diagnose accurately over the internet. Now if you want to purchase 100,000 lortab with no doctor's exam, waiting in line, or cumbersome paper prescriptions, then the internet is just what you need.

Numbness in the jaw can be anything from an MI to temporal arteritis. Based on the "detailed" history you provided though, I'm going to go ahead and diagnose you with metastatic squamous cell penile cancer that has metatastasized to your mandible. Based on your staging and the rest of your medical history, I predict that you only have 2 days to live. Enjoy your next two days.

Wow I guess I deserve the sarcasm. I was tired when I posted but I wasn't looking for what to do (I am seeing my Physician later today). I was just looking for maybe some ideas as the cause (inflammation from being sick compressing a nerve or something).

Take it easy on a dumb premed okay.

Maybe I did bang Brittany but am now having an allergic reaction to silicone.

My PCP believes I have a mild case of Bell's Palsy. I got prescribed Prednisone and Zovirax.

Interesting. Usually Bell's Palsy only effects the nerve that supplies the facial muscles, causing weakness or frank paralysis of half the face. It wouldn't necessarily explain the tingling and numbness you describe.

You'll have to keep us posted, for our education and amusment.
